My Style: Finding a new way to wear stripes

As I’m sure you’re all bored with me saying by now, I am quite partial to a stripe.

There are more stripes in my wardrobe than any other print, although until now they’ve solely remained on tops.

But in my quest for the Ultimate Breton Wardrobe (U.B.W), I recently spotted .

Now admittedly I haven’t visited a Karen Millen store for years. Too many WAG connotations, dresses too short, too lime or just too much. I like my dresses prim with high necks and a calf-hitting hemline after all.

But – and this is a big but – I’ve been really impressed recently by how the collection is looking and fancy quite a few things that I spotted in the store, including and this .

And then there was this trench – striped in a body flattering way so that the wider bands go around the waist, big gold buttons, a great bum-covering length and a brilliant, heavyweight fabric that feels completely luxe. It isn’t cheap, but it is the perfect mid-season coat that you’ll reach for in years to come.

I’ve worn it with a really neutral outfit including , which is my new favourite piece. It’s slouchy, but chic and works as a cowl-neck or slightly off the shoulder. I’ve already worn it with a and smart black trousers.

The jeans are last season’s ‘Phoebe’ from and unfortunately they’re not doing anything similar this season, but check for a similar look.

Mi up the prints, this adds a colour pop punch to an otherwise neutral look, although I have to admit this is a press sample that I am returning (sadly), not my own!

And along with the , I’ve also accessorised with the coolest badges ever: my . These would make the best present – and rumour has it they’ll be launching an earring version very soon (although lots of people are apparently wearing them as earrings already!)
